This photo captures the extreme heat of Las Vegas. Coming from India, the temperature difference was immediately noticeable, and it took some time to adjust. This image symbolizes my initial struggle with the climate but also represents the excitement of starting something new in a vibrant city.

Zahir was the first person I got to know at DASL. He gave us a detailed tour of the lab, explaining all the ongoing projects and introducing us to the other lab members. His enthusiasm made the encounter easy and welcoming. Zahir’s guidance helped me feel more comfortable in the new environment and set the stage for my future work at DASL.

One of the first things I noticed was how much the weather affects daily life here. In India, I was used to a different kind of climate, but the dry heat of Las Vegas was something entirely new. It made me appreciate the air-conditioned spaces and also highlighted the importance of staying hydrated. It’s fascinating how the environment shapes the culture and daily routines of people here.

This week taught me that I’m capable of adapting to new and challenging environments. Whether it’s adjusting to the climate or getting to know new people, I realized that I could handle the changes with a positive mindset.

This week, we began drone flight testing with Koreen. It was my first time flying a drone, and although it was a bit intimidating at first, I started to get the hang of it. This experience helped me build confidence in handling new technology and gave me a glimpse into the exciting projects we’ll be working on at DASL.
