Week 2 : Navigating New Opportunities

Photo of the Week:

This photo captures a significant moment as I took control of the drone during our flight testing. It represents not only my progress in handling new technology but also the thrill of overcoming initial fears. Flying the drone has become a symbol of my growing confidence and adaptability in this internship.

Getting to Know the Projects:

This week marked our first weekly meeting with Prof. Oh. We began by introducing our previous work and experiences, which helped set the stage for our future contributions at DASL. Prof. Oh presented us with three exciting projects: the gas drone delivery project, cable-driven parallel robots, and the F1TENTH autonomous racing project.

Among these, the F1TENTH project caught my attention immediately. My previous experience with ROS made me feel that this project would be a good fit for me, and I was excited to dive into it. Mali, who is already working on the F1TENTH project, was incredibly helpful in getting me started. She shared all the necessary materials and documentation, ensuring I had a solid foundation to begin my work.

Eagerness to Explore

This week, I realized how much I enjoy exploring new areas of interest. Even though I had some experience with ROS, the F1TENTH project was new territory for me. I found myself eager to learn more and excited to contribute to this cutting-edge project.

F1TENTH Setup

After deciding to work on the F1TENTH project, I was tasked with setting up a Raspberry Pi 4 and installing the F1TENTH driver stack, as the required Jetson was not available in the lab. This was a crucial step in getting started with the project.
